Role Summary

The MSL head, Work with the TA head and lead China bone MSL team, this position will serve as the point of contact with other Amgen China function teams and with cross function teams and medical activities in Bone health therapeutic area (TA) in region. As such, this position is responsible for leading MSL team and providing medical insights into the relevant TA and/or specific molecules to the China teams and the global teams to inform medical affairs strategies for China, and for executing the activities accordingly

Responsibilities:

To maximize Amgen’s value propositions by creating value for patients through leadership of national MSL team

  • Lead and manage a team of Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) specializing in the Bone Therapeutic Area, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure the team's effectiveness and success.

  • Develop and execute comprehensive medical affairs strategies and resourcing plans for the Bone Therapeutic Area, aligning them with the overall organizational objectives

  • Collaborate with Medical Affairs leadership to develop and implement medical strategies, tactics, and initiatives specific to the Bone Therapeutic Area, ensuring they align with the overall therapeutic area strategy.

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Medical Affairs, Research and Development, Clinical Operations, and Commercial teams, to ensure alignment and integration of medical activities.

  • Provide scientific expertise and support to internal stakeholders, including Medical Affairs colleagues, Regulatory Affairs, Marketing, and Sales teams, ensuring accurate and timely dissemination of scientific information.

  • Ensure that the ALIGN CRM system appropriately supports the team's needs and deliverables, including tracking and managing key activities, scientific engagements, and insights gathered from clinical trials and investigator-initiated studies within the Bone Therapeutic Area.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, guidelines, and ethical standards in all medical affairs activities, maintaining high standards of integrity, scientific rigor, and professionalism.

  • To effectively oversee and manage the team's operating budgets in accordance with established financial plans, ensuring prudent allocation and utilization of resources

  • Serve as the primary scientific expert for the Bone Therapeutic Area, staying updated with the latest scientific and clinical advancements, treatment guidelines, and emerging trends in the field.

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), healthcare professionals, and external stakeholders, fostering scientific exchange, collaboration, and advocacy.

  • Represent the organization at scientific conferences, symposiums, and advisory boards, delivering presentations and engaging in scientific discussions to enhance the organization's visibility and scientific reputation.

  • Contribute to the development and review of scientific materials, including educational resources, medical publications, presentations, and training programs, ensuring scientific accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations.

Basic Qualifications

MD, PharmD or PhD

3+ years’ Medical/Scientific experience within the Biopharmaceutical Industry

Preferred Qualifications

  • Scientific and/or clinical bone health experience

  • MSL experience

  • Experience working within a cross-functional matrix team environment

  • Strategic planning and/or brand planning experience

  • Experience in leading and motivating field based medical/scientific teams

  • Exceptional communication skills

  • Strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills

  • Solid organization and project management skills

  • Knowledge of clinical development, commercialization and business practices

  • Knowledge of regulatory affairs, drug safety, legal and compliance environment
